Above all, The Sneijder Case is the portrait of a wounded man, the only fragile survivor from a dreadful lift accident. This tragic event makes him to look at the world around him, at the people inhabiting it, with a new lucidity. Paul Sneijder is not a warrior, he just tries to survive, to understand the irrepressible and mechanical verticality of the world as well as its tragic consequences for him. Struggling against this time bomb, this diabolical machine, he persists in remaining himself, he resigns from a working life consonant with the rules of a decent conformist society that forgives him not for this deviancy. With the excuse of treating him, they keep watch over him…

"As hilarious as desperate" was the comment of the press when the book came out in 2012. Indeed, it’s a combination of funniness, deep anxiety, weird comicalness and nasty hypocrisy that could make of this narrative, on stage, a comedy of disenchantment, mingled with humour and bitterness.
